Case study: Long-term solution to blocked gutters for prominent school in Brisbane’s west
Location: Jindalee | Start date: 27 June 2022 | Completion date: 8 July 2022
Scope of Works
CMBM was engaged to provide a long-term solution to blocked gutters and downpipes in a school in Brisbane’s west. Being a prominent school in the area, works needed to be completed during the school holidays to avoid interfering with the daily activities of the students and staff.
Heavy planning and logistics were required for this project due to the strict access to the jobsite, which CMBM managed effectively and efficiently. A full gutter and downpipe replacement was carried out, using Leaf Guard gutter mesh to mitigate future blockages on the new gutters.
Project Outcomes
CMBM completed the project on time and to the budget and scope, despite several days of heavy rain which prevented work from being conducted. No variations were required, meaning no additional works needed to be carried out when Term 3 commenced.
Core Works
- Site setup & risk analysis: CMBM’s WHS Advisor was onsite throughout the setup to ensure safety precautions were correctly in place, including temporary fencing and signage. A risk analysis was carried out to confirm safety standards for the project.
- Removal of existing gutters and downpipes: 135m of 175mm guttering was safely removed via the use of a boom lift and materials hoist. New Colorbond Quad guttering and downpipes were supplied and installed.
- Leaf Guard mesh installed: To help mitigate future blockages in the new gutters, 68m of Leaf Guard gutter mesh was installed on the guttering section underneath large trees.
- Completion & handover: All trade waste was removed and recycled appropriately, leaving the site in a perfect, respectable manner upon completion.
