CMBM’s Immediate Response to the Hilton Hotel Helicopter Crash

In October 2024, a helicopter on an unauthorized flight crashed into the roof of the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel on the Cairns Esplanade. The crash triggered a fire on the top floor, leading to the evacuation of up to 400 guests. Two of the helicopter’s rotor blades detached and landed on the esplanade and in the hotel pool.
As a well-known cleaning company throughout Queensland, CMBM was called in to assist with the cleanup after the incident. Debris from the crash was scattered throughout the hotel, including the gardens, guest rooms, and swimming pools. Our professional team acted swiftly, mobilizing staff and equipment to begin the cleanup.
With only a short window to achieve results, we efficiently coordinated the cleaning of all eight floors. After a week of dedicated work, the hotel was fully restored and ready to welcome guests once again. Before reopening, CMBM conducted a final inspection to ensure every area was thoroughly cleaned and safe for use.

CMBM’s Immediate Response to a Childcare Flood Emergency
In March 2024, a severe tropical storm caused significant flooding across Cairns. Milestones Early Learning Smithfield at Cairns was heavily affected, with floodwater entering the premises overnight. The childcare manager contacted CMBM for an urgent response.
Our Cairns team quickly arranged staff and equipment to carry out an overnight cleanup, assessing water damage to the floors, furniture, and air-conditioning units. A key priority was removing furniture, including refrigerators, to prevent water damage from affecting appliances and to ensure a safe working environment for our team. From there, a complete deep clean of the facility was accomplished to a high standard.
